The Nightlife of Singapore

Scan-Service

If one is on the way in the evenings on the streets of Singapore, one has the feeling that the city never sleeps - even during the week! With lots of ways for entertainment like bars, pubs, karaoke barns and clubs one can have fun during the whole night up to the early morning hours. It is even better that Singapore belongs to one of the most save cities of the world so that one can freely move there.

Bars and Pubs

Blue Jazz Bar

The Blue Jazz is, according to my opinion, one of the most beautiful and cozy bars of Singapore. Built in the style of a shophouse, one can have here national and international meals and relax to the jazz sounds. Once a week there are even live-bands and the entrance is still for free. The Blue Jazz Bar is open from Tuesday to Sunday and is located close to the MRT station Bugis at the Rochor Road.

Devine

Divine

Right in front of the Park View Square-Tower there is the Divine. The bar is located at the lowest floor and is simply eye candy. By ordering a bottle of wine, a thing that usually only moneyed people can afford, it is taken by a lady dressed as an angel by means of a tightrope at a breathtaking height from the wine shelf. I have never seen such a thing before! All this is accompanied by piano music and vocals, a thing that due to the bigness of the hall provides an incredible acoustic. But therefore, the prices are so overcharged that one better has a drink and continues to other bars (Cocktail from S$ 25).

Emerald Hill

In any case, the visit of one of the bars at the Emerald Hill is a must. The Emerald Hill is located sideways of the shopping mile Orchard Road. It is hard to believe that in the hectic shopping goings-on there is such an oasis of quietness and cozyness. Upwards the small hill there are three bars that are located side by side in the colourful shophouses: the Emerald N°5, the Que Pasa and the Ice Cold Beer. If one wants to sit outside, one should arrive in the early evening as the number of seats is limited; Additionally, one can enjoy the happy hour and can work through the cocktail card.

New Asia Bar

View New Asia Bar

In any case, one should not miss the New Asia Bar. Located high over the roofs of Singapore, in the 70th floor of the Swissôtel The Stammford (MRT City Hall), businessmen and tourists get here for drinking cocktails and dancing. Those who want to get one of the demanded seats at the window should also arrive in the early morning. The view to the city is unique and the ambiente of the bar is something very special due to their modern and stylish arrangement.

Clarke Quay

Those who prefer a bigger choice of bars and pubs will be right at the Clarke Quay. The Bar Clinic, which name is also the motto, is one of the most bizarr ones of Singapore. At the open air, one sits on hospital beds and listen to house music while being on a drip.

Highlander Bar

A further highlight is the Bar Highlander, a scottish pub with an adjacent discotheque. The special thing: one is served by waitreses wearing a scottish skirt. But the prices are really steep there. For a small beer, one pays S$ 12. Mentioning all bars would go beyond the scope, the best is to Get oneself a picture on the spot.

Clubs and Discotheques

With the clubs and discos known by us the ones of Singapore cannot be comprared. The bigness, arquitecture, the arrangement and the music facilites are simply fantastic. The opinions differ about if the Ministry of Sound (MOS) or the Zouk (consisting on three different clubs: Zouk, Velvet and Underground)is number 1. Here, one can dance to mainly electronic music of National and international djs .

MOS Dbl O

The MOS consists on the main floor as also on the Studio 54 and the white room in the upper floor. On the Main Floor and the White Room, most of the times house and electro is played, while in the Studio 54 it is danced to the legendary hits of the seventies and 80ies and the charts. Most of the times, women have a price advantage of S$5 - 10 and pay approximately S$ 25 (including 1 or 2 drinks) contrary to the men (approximately S$ 30).

In the clubs the drink prices for alcohol are respectively to the ones in europe and it is better to pay attention to some special offerings (take 2 pay 1). Most of the people from Singapore are considered as party people with a high alcohol consume and they use to sit at a previously booked table with alcoholic drinks from the bottle.

More recomendable clubs: Attica (MRT Clarke Quay), St.James Powerstation (MRT Harbour Front, Dbl O (Mohammed Sultan Road) with the legendary Lady's Night on Wednesdays!
